New Job, New Work-Life Balance

I’m delighted to announce that I’ve accepted a full-time position as a Resident Chaplain at OhioHealth’s Grant Hospital. I’ll be getting all four units of CPE (clinical pastoral education) as well as working rotations across all areas on a variable shift schedule. (I’m also still continuing my once a week work at the Ohio Reformatory for Women, though that schedule is shifting too)

That being said, I’m also working to acknowledge where changes to work-life balances need to happen. You can help with that by only using text or messenger for personal communications. If it has anything to do with ADF, Three Cranes Grove, or other clergy work, please email me at  rev.jan.avende@gmail.com so I can make sure I’m not only protecting my downtime, but also not losing important communications.

I’ve already begun working on handing off a lot of grove duties to my co-priest Rev. Michael J Dangler and to the other grove officers. He’ll be handling a lot of our grove priest duties for the next year. Within ADF I’ve been really looking at what jobs are mine to carry, and what can be passed on to others with time, passion, and talent. (If you’re interested in getting more involved in ADF, let me know and I can help you find a position where you can fit). I’ve also been seeking assistants for things that are mine, but would benefit from another set of hands.

Additionally, some of the services I’ve offered here in the past are on hiatus for the moment as I adjust to the new work-life balance. I’ll still be available for rites of passage, but other services I’ll happily refer you to someone I trust based on what your needs are. If you’re local to Columbus, The Magical Druid is a great and trustworthy place to find readings, magic consultations, and workshops. If you’re not local to Columbus, I know competent & trustworthy folks across the US and beyond, as well as many who provide virtual services.
